Joseph M. Calomo

Dr. Calomo is the Director of Strategy for Walgreens Health Services (WHS). In this role he works with the Executive team and business leaders to formulate the strategic direction and strategic planning process for WHS. Prior to this role Dr Calomo was the Director of In-Store Clinics for the Walgreen Company. Prior to joining Walgreens Dr. Calomo was an Assistant Professor with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where he also served as the Assistant Dean in the School of Pharmacy. In these roles he oversaw the Colleges management and leadership development programs and the experiential education programs. Here Dr. Calomo developed the first accredited community residency programs for the College, of which he served as Director for 6 years. Dr. Calomo has always been a strong advocate for integrated healthcare. He worked closely with the boards of pharmacy and medicine, as well as the Department of Public Health in Massachusetts and was among one of the first pharmacist accredited to provide immunizations within that state. Dr. Calomo served on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy Disease Management Review Committee in the areas of Diabetes, Asthma and Anticoagulation Therapy. Currently, Dr. Calomo holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Calomo earned both his undergraduate degree as well as his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He went on to receive a Masters degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University. Dr. Calomo completed an Academic Leadership Fellows through Gallup University and the American Academy of Colleges of Pharmacy in 2006.
