Members,

We ask that you review the attached Sign-On Letter to Congress requesting that the payment formula in any provisions addressing the sustainable growth rate for physicians under Medicare use a model that appropriately differentiates the conversion factor for primary care and preventive health services from the conversion factor for all other medical services.  This approach, which is currently in H.R. 3961, the Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009 and was also supported by the House of Representatives in one of its vote on H.R. 3962, the Affordable Healthcare for America Act in November 2009, would take into account the expected growth and increased importance of primary care as the nation moves forwards towards an improved health care delivery system.   We ask that you return your organization's intent to sign on to the letter by COB Tuesday, June 8th to Relja Ugrinic, at rugrinic@pcpcc.net.  We will send the letter to all health policy staff in Congress on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.

If you are with a group that it is not suitable for you to sign letters to Congress please disregard this request.  If you have any questions or concerns you may contact Edwina Rogers, Executive Director, at 202.724.3331 (office) or 202.674.7800 (cell).

Thank you.
