National Alliance on Mental Illness joins the PCPCC
The promotion of patient centered medical homes and access to primary care is a big issue at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). A 2006 report from the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors medical directors demonstrated that people with severe mental illness have more than 20 years lower life expectancies because of diabetes, obsesity, COPD, poor diet and lack of access to primary care.
