     would like to welcome Dr. Sherman, who has accepted an invitation to become our new Co-Chair, and will work with Co-Chair Duane Putnam and Executive Director Robert Dribbon on the forward progress of our Center's goals and objectives.
II. Purchaser Guide Webinars

III. Speaker Presentation
  • Rebecca A. Malouin, Ph.D., M.P.H.- Assistant Professor - Department of Family Medicine and Department of Pediatrics and Human Development will speak with the Center regarding her thoughts on what else should constitute what qualifies as a PCMH. V. Employer Communication Needed on the Importance of Primary Care- (Barbara Starfield, ACP & AAFP; to send us their "importance documents"; Rob Dribbon, email request for information.)

  • "Do you have a primary care doctor?"- Find related resources and articles containing information and statistics on access to adequate primary care for a possible draft Employer to Employee communications document.

VI.  Embed VBBD message into PCMH

  • Discuss recent presentation made by Doug Henley and Jeff Harris to the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).
  • For an article supporting VBBD regarding Health Plans, please click here.
  • The Center is very interested in assembling a guide on linking the PCMH to VBBD.  Model Langauge included below.
    • Establish a Resource Guide for employers as an expansion of the PCPCC Purchaser Guide (released in July, 2008). The Resource Guide will show linkage of the PCMH to benefit plan design. Content for the guide will be obtained from two sources:
      1. Employer case examples of value based benefit re-design strategies from  companies such as IBM, Dow Chemical and others;
      2. Subject matter experts in the area of wellness and prevention; value-based benefit design; comparative effectiveness and data collection; consumer portals and their role in patient self-management. This series of educational programs will be offered Jan-April, 2009 through the Center for Benefit Plan Redesign and Implementation. Content will be re-purposed and compiled into a Resource Guide to be released at the April or July, 2009 PCPCC Stakeholder meeting. 
       
      Among other things, presenters will be asked to answer the following:
      1. Describe the key aspects/elements of your health benefit plan re-design / how does this relate to the principles of the PCMH? What were the obstacles to your success/ what were the key success factors?
      2. How are you incorporating wellness/prevention and screening into your
            benefit plan design and in what way are you incorporating and
      engaging the primary care provider?
      1. How are co-pays and incentives encouraging access to new programs
            and services? 
      We will also encourage employers and subject matter experts to outline how deductibles, co-pays, incentives and schedule of benefits can encourage and /or support care coordination, medication management for chronic conditions and patient self-management- all within the context of the PCMH.

VII.  Create "Buyers Resource Center" to include: Best Practices, Buying Criteria, Consumer Engagement Tools, Purchaser Guide (and materials), Lessons Learned, "Toolkit" to support successful program evaluations/ employer engagement.

XI. Produce a Key Membership List for the Center and work to encourage participation.
