Janet Leiker

Janet Leiker, RN, MPH, CPHQ, is the Health Care Quality Strategist and former Manager, Healthcare Quality, at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).  She has been with the AAFP since 2001. She provides leadership to integrate the quality improvement activities of the AAFP divisions through involvement with the patient centered medical home, patient safety, performance measurement, and quality initiatives. In her position, Ms Leiker serves as assistant staff executive for the AAFP Commission on Quality and Practice and liaison to several organizations involved in healthcare quality, including the National Quality Forum, AMA Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement and multiple medical specialty societies. Ms. Leiker’s prior healthcare experience includes hospital and physician office nursing, and 13 years with a state Quality Improvement Organization’s Medicare program, where she held various positions related to utilization review and quality improvement projects for hospital and outpatient settings. Ms Leiker graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University, and a Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Health Care Outcomes Management and Research from the University of Kansas, Department of Preventive Medicine. She is also a certified professional in healthcare quality (CPHQ).
