Lou Terranova

Lou Terranova manages the AAP Private Payer Advocacy initiative and serves as primary staff to the AAP Private Payer Advocacy Advisory Committee (PPAAC).  In that capacity, he assists AAP members and staff in dealing with private payer issues, including coverage and payment, contractual matters and assists in coordinating contacts with private payers, as well as provides assistance as needed to AAP chapter pediatric councils.Prior to joining the Academy, he served as Program Services Administrator for the State of Illinois Title V program for Maternal and Child Health called the Division of Specialized Care for Children, which provides pediatric specialty case management and benefits coordination for Illinois families and children with special health care needs.  Previously he was the Assistant Administrator for the Rockford Council for Affordable Health Care - a health care coalition developing managed care programs - and was a Research Assistant at the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JAHCO).In addition to over 25 years of health administration experience, Mr. Terranova received his Masters and Bachelors degrees in Health Administration from Governors State University in Illinois.
