Amy Gibson, MS, RN

Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative

Amy Gibson, MS, RN, is the Chief Operating Officer of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative.  Ms. Gibson has been working to promote and improve access to medical homes for more than 11 years. Prior to coming to the PCPCC she served as the Assistant Director of the Boys Town Institute for Child Health Improvement in Omaha, Nebraska. At the Institute she worked to create medical homes by taking national, state, and local policy on the optimal care of children, especially those with special health care needs, and developing high quality, cost-effective strategies that could be easily incorporated into community-based, primary care practices and other settings. Before coming to Omaha, Ms. Gibson served as the Director of the Division of Children with Special Needs at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), as well as the Director for the National Center of Medical Home Initiatives for Children with Special Needs, a cooperative agreement between the AAP and the US federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau/HRSA. In this role she worked with national partners, including family advocates, to develop and promote policies that would improve access to medical homes for children. Her past work experiences include neonatal nursing, pediatric home health care, and as a nursing consultant for the Illinois Title V Children with Special Health Care Needs program.  She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a master's degree in nursing with an emphasis in parent-child nursing from Northern Illinois University.
