Overview: Back by popular demand, Diane will discuss the road Roy O Martin took toward connecting their employees to a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Diane states, "Our journey started ten years ago, got fresh wheels four years ago and became a reality this year. There are many reasons why we, as a mid-sized employer, understand that the patient-centered medical home model is the best overall way to provide access to quality care for our employees and their dependents."Included in the topics for discussion will be why they chose the PCMH model, how they reached out to other employers, how they staffed their clinic, PCMH metrics and where they hope to be in the immediate future. She will also discuss how they decided to fund the clinic and what their philosophy is surrounding those decisions.
Biography:
Diane Davidson is Employee Benefits Manager for RoyOMartin in Alexandria, Louisiana, joining the company in 1993. She was a programmer/analyst for RoyOMartin until November 2004 when she took on the role of Benefits Manager. In fact, her background as a programmer/analyst first for a medical software company and later for the manufacturing and administrative operations for RoyOMartin led to her current position as benefits manager. She set up the computer system for the self insured insurance division and moved into the role of benefits manager in 2004. The medical plan, designed in 1980, has seen much change and growth under Diane’s oversight, including implementation and expansion of preventative health benefits. Health insurance premium costs were reduced by 40% in 2005 and have increased less than 3% each year since then. Claims costs have also maintained a trend of 3% growth over the last ten years. Her most recent accomplishment was working with management to open a Patient-Centered Medical Home. The medical home is a collaborative with another employer and opened on March 1, 2011.
Diane is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a BS Degree in Quantitative Business Analysis and a minor in Computer Science. She is the current past chair of the Louisiana Business Group on Health. She also served as Medical Home Payment Pilot sub-committee co-chairman for the Louisiana Quality Forum, working on the design and setup of benefit and payment structures for the medical home model. In addition, she was on the Health Data Panel which oversaw the launch of a statewide website in 2010 dedicated to improving consumerism in Louisiana. Diane is also a member of the Louisiana Health Care Commission which is a board developed by the legislature to oversee and make recommendations on health care improvements in Louisiana.
